Official: Number of registered unemployed falls to 2.4 mln
MOSCOW, Feb 18 (PRIME) -- The number of registered unemployed in Russia has fallen to 2.4 million people, Deputy Labor Minister Yelena Mukhtiyarova said on Thursday.
The official said that whereas in August the number of unemployed accounted for 6.4% of the labor force, in December it stood at 5.9%. In real terms, the number fell to 4.4 million from 4.8 million people, as calculated under the standards of International Labor Organization.
"We expect that this decreasing trend will continue. Whereas in September, at the peak, 3.7 million people were registered in the employment centers in fact, today this number is 2.4 million people," Mukhtiyarova said.
